Rosa Parks, 86, the "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement," with the Congressional Gold Medal, Tuesday, at a ceremony attended by President Clinton, leaders of Congress and more than 500 guests. In 1955 Parks refused to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery, Ala., bus, prompting laws that ended legal segregation.
