By San Diego Padre Tony Gwynn, his 3,000th hit, Friday; by Tampa Bay Devil Ray Wade Boggs, his 3,000th hit (a home run), Saturday. As Boggs joyously rounded the bases, he pointed skyward in tribute to his late mother, then got down and kissed the ground when he reached home plate. There are now 23 major-league baseball players who, over time, have achieved the 3,000 milestone.
