Lyle Leverich, 79, author of what leading critics called the definitive biography of playwright Tennessee Williams, Dec. 17, from complications of diabetes. Leverich was working on a second and final volume on the "A Streetcar Named Desire" writer . . . British character actor Peter Jeffrey, 70, Saturday, of cancer, in London. Among his roles: Bulstrode in the 1994 BBC mini-series "Middlemarch," Mr. Peabody in the 1984 "Jewel in the Crown," Ahmet in 1978's "Midnight Express" and Gen. Wadafi in 1974's "Return of the Pink Panther."
