Death in Goreyland
Author-illustrator Edward Gorey, 75, who delighted generations of adults and children with his whimsical takes of macabre images, died Saturday at a hospital in Hyannis, Mass., after a heart attack. Gorey's designs appeared in books (his 1972 classic "Amphigorey" spawned sequels), on TV (the logos for PBS's "Mystery" series) and on the stage (his sets for the 1977 Broadway revival of "Dracula," starring Frank Langella, won Gorey a Tony).
