New Beethoven Record

A single page of Ludwig van Beethoven's handwritten notes for his Sixth Symphony ("The Pastoral") sold at Sotheby's in London over the weekend for a record $296,800. It was the first such manuscript from the German music master (1770-1827) to come up for auction in at least 30 years. The identity of the buyer was not disclosed.
