11/11/1997 at 12:00 AM EST

"20/20" correspondent John Stossel will apologize for a report that implied that organic foods were not any safer than regular store-bought produce, according to ABC. The report, which aired in February and was repeated last month, took on the organic foods industry. The Associated Press reports that Stossel will apologize on the air on Friday. Last week, legal aid Erin Brockovich, the real-life inspiration for the Julia Roberts movie of the same name, attacked Stossel for a separate report on the safety of drinking water.
