Soap Star Dies

Daytime soap star and writer, Mary K. Wells, 79, died in New York on Monday. She began working in soap operas on the radio 50 years ago and appeared on TV's "The Edge of Night" (as upper-crust housewife Louise Caprice). In 1974, she joined the writing staff of the soap. For the latter, she won two Emmys, in 1985 and 1988. Earlier, she also appeared on TV's "Philco TV Playhouse," "Robert Montgomery Presents" and "The Milton Berle Show."
