'E.T.' to Land at Multiplex
Steven Spielberg's "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial," is coming back to movie theaters with added footage, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment announced yesterday. The new version is scheduled to open in 2002, for the 20th anniversary of the popular fantasy, which took in some $702 million from box offices around the world (making it one of the 10 highest grossing pictures of all time). "Even though 'E.T.' has achieved this special place in our lives, I always wanted to give audiences another chance to experience it as they first did -- in theaters," Spielberg said in a statement. No word on what the new footage will contain.
