Take Snoopy Home
At least 50 Snoopy statues that have been decorating the streets of St. Paul, Minn., will hit the Sotheby's auction block in an effort to raise money to build a permanent bronze monument in the city to Snoopy's dad, cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. The "Peanuts" creator died of colon cancer this year. It is hoped that the sale of Snoopys, which were created by local artists, will mirror the success of the cow statues that adorned Chicago and New York these past two summers. One Windy City bovine went for $110,000, reports the Associated press, and overall sales of the 140 cows in Chicago poured $3.5 million into city coffers.
