Hatch Book Doesn't Survive

Richard Hatch can't win 'em all. The "Survivor" millionaire's lucrative book deal with St. Martin's Press -- for which he reportedly was to have received between $350,000-$500,000 -- is a no go, a rep for the publisher says. While book industry sources have said that the book, which was a memoir, was too downbeat to be wildly commercial (especially when Hatch writes of his early life), St. Martin's pointed the finger at CBS for the reason that the book won't move ahead. The network, which has its own official "Survivor" book coming out, has the legal right to shoot down any project that trades on the castaways' participation in the hit summer show.
