Conservationist Robert Redford, 64, is now also a preservationist. The filmmaker and his Sundance Film Centers are fighting to save a Santa Monica, Calif., movie house called the Aero and turn it into a prototype showplace for independent films, reports the Associated Press. It was at the art-deco theater that the star, as a young man, developed his passion for movies. One snag is proper parking facilities for the Aero. "We think what they're doing architecturally is really neat," said local resident Doris Sosin. "But outrageous is the word for parking. We're very concerned."
