Phish Goes Phooey

10/24/1997 at 12:00 AM EDT

It might be the end of the line for Vermont-based rock group Phish, reports The New York Times. Saturday marked the band's final concert (in Mountain View, Calif.), at least for the time being. Despite this being Phish's most successful year, band manager John Paluska said, "Everybody just hit an undefinable point of exhaustion at the same time." Musicians Page McConnell, Trey Anastasio, John Fishman and Mike Gordon prefer to spend time with their families, he said. No new concert or albums are planned, said The Times.
