No Charge for Rick Springfield
Rick Springfield, 51, is off the hook: Prosecutors in Los Angeles have decided not to file charges against him for allegedly striking his wife last month. "The case is not provable because the only evidence that the victim was assaulted is the hearsay statements made to her sister," prosecutors said in a statement reported by the Associated Press. Springfield was arrested Sept. 18 at his Malibu home. According to police reports, the entertainer's sister-in-law reported that he struck his wife, Barbara, and threw her to the floor. Barbara Springfield denied the assault, prosecutors say, other than to claim that Springfield grabbed her by the arm.
