Actors' Strike: Fade Out
It's looking good for a settlement in that nearly 6-month-old actors' strike against the advertising industry. Yesterday, negotiators for both sides announced a tentative agreement on a new contract, with final details expected to be explained today at a 2 p.m. news conference in New York. Should the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists endorse the deal when it comes up for approval on Oct. 28, as expected, the 135,000 actors who have been put out of work could be back before the cameras as early as Oct. 30, SAG spokesman Greg Krizman told the Associated Press.
