'Doonesbury' Turns 30

10/22/1997 at 12:00 AM EDT

"Doonesbury," the politically satirical comic strip by Pulitzer Prize winner Garry Trudeau, celebrates its 30th birthday tomorrow. In today's Washington Post, one of the 700 newspapers in which the strip appears, Trudeau, 52, reveals his favored Presidential candidate. "From a professional standpoint," he says, "everyone in my business hopes that Bush will win. When you look at the perceived flaws of the two candidates, one suffers from a collection of them that can't be corrected, and the other from a condition that he can do nothing about."
