10/09/1997 at 12:00 AM EDT

The self-proclaimed King of All Media is here to stay for the next five years. Howard Stern, 46, announced Friday morning that he will continue to belt out his brand of brashness after having threatened to leave the air unless a "fair contract" (his words) could be hammered out between himself and CBS/Infinity, which produces his wake-up program for 54 stations around the country. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
