Actor Keir Dullea, 64, who took the ultimate trip 32 years ago in Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," is, appropriately enough, being honored this month. He will receive Connecticut's Fairfield Arts Council artist of the year award, presented annually to an artist who has achieved national or international recognition in the visual or performing arts. (As Dullea's fame was on the rise in the '60s, Noel Coward quipped, "Keir Dullea, gone tomorrow.") Dullea was also chosen for the Fairfield award because of his involvement in local theater, council president Ryan Odinak told the Associated Press.
