Lewis, Williams Recovering
JERRY LEWIS is recovering nicely from disc surgery he had two weeks ago, according to the Associated Press. "The surgery was a complete success . . . For the first time in about 17 years, he's not in pain," said a spokeswoman for the Orleans hotel-casino in Las Vegas where Lewis, 74, was scheduled to perform this week. Lewis will need three or four weeks to recover . . . Hall of Famer Ted Williams, the last major leaguer to hit .400, is making progress in his recovery from open heart surgery he underwent 12 days ago, his doctor says. Williams, 82, has taken a "real step forward," his doctor told the Boston Globe on Thursday. "In terms of the current phase of his recovery, he's already made it. His heart is doing what it has to do."
