Hip-hop star DMX plans to turn himself in for a 15-day jail sentence in upstate New York as early as next week, even though his surrender will prevent him from attending Wednesday's Grammys ceremony, his publicist says. (The musician is nominated for two Grammys: best rap album, " . . . And Then There Was X," and best rap solo performance for the single "Party Up.") DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was sentenced in May for driving without a license. On Friday, a warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to meet the court-ordered deadline to begin his jail term, reports the Associated Press.
