Joey Ramone Battling Cancer

Joey Ramone, 49, lead singer of seminal punk act the Ramones ("Rock and Roll High School"), is battling lymphoma in a New York-area hospital, that city's Daily News reports. The Ramones, originally consisting of Joey (whose real name is Jeffrey Hyman), John Cummings (Johnny Ramone) and Douglas Colvin (Dee Dee Ramone), were formed in 1974. As for Joey's current condition, the Queens, N.Y.-born musician's spokesman, Arturo Vega, told the News, "Joey watched a tape of 'The Sopranos' on Wednesday. He's doing better and better."
