Copperfield Sued over Stunt

09/10/1997 at 12:00 AM EDT

Magician David Copperfield has been sued for $15,000 by a crew member of his Tornado of Fire illusion who alleges in legal papers filed in Florida that she was injured during a tryout of the red-hot trick, reports the Associated Press. Cathy Daly of Henderson, Nev., claims that she was thrown 10 feet in the air by the power of the man-made tornado during a rehearsal. (The illusion was part of Copperfield's upcoming April 3 TV special for CBS.) Copperfield's production company, Disappearing, Inc., did not immediately return phone calls to the news service.
