Oscar Scaffolding Collapses
Scaffolding along the red carpet for the Academy Awards ceremony collapsed Thursday outside L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium, injuring five workers, one seriously -- but the show will go on, say news reports. Most of the mangled metal fell just behind bleachers that was due to support fans, members of the press and lights. Preparations for Sunday's big show were temporarily halted in the immediate vicinity of the collapse, leaving workers to use other paths to enter into the Shrine. "This will not delay the ceremony at all," city fire spokesman Richard Andrade told Reuters of the accident.
