Anthony Needs to Show

09/04/1997 at 12:00 AM EDT

Salsa singer Marc Anthony, 31, has been sued by songwriter Daniel Agren, claiming that Anthony's 1999 hit "I Need to Know" infringes Agren's copyright for a 1989 song of the same name, reports Rolling Stone. Anthony's attorney, Orin Snyder, labeled the lawsuit, which also names Sony Music Entertainment, Sony/ATV Tunes and producer Cory Rooney as parties to Anthony's alleged misdeed, an outrage. "Marc Anthony and Cory Rooney independently wrote 'I Need to Know,' " he told the magazine. "It is their song, and no one else's . . . We are confident the lawsuit will be dismissed."
