Woody Sues Producer

Filmmaker Woody Allen, 65, has sued his longtime producer and friend of 40 years, Jean Doumanian, 64, in New York State Supreme Court, charging that she cheated him out of profits from the last eight movies they made together. (Last year they dissolved their partnership and he set up shop at DreamWorks. Both parties described the split as amicable at the time.) Allen's court papers say that because Doumanian has given him and his company no financial information, he is uncertain how much she owes him. Also named in the suit is Doumanian's financial backer and boyfriend, Jaqui Safra. Dan Klores, Doumanian's spokesman, calls the allegations false.
