Despite threats of a tornado in the area, Bruce Springsteen, 51, made a special appearance Sunday night to help mark the one-year anniversary of the reopening of a legendary Jersey Shore rock club, reports the Associated Press. The Boss did his thing before about 2,500 fans at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Also on the bill: Southside Johnny and Asbury Jukes, and rocker Graham Parker. Springsteen's gig began at about 8:40 p.m. and performed with the band and Parker for about an hour. The set featured several Springsteen songs and some Southside staples, along with Creedence Clearwater Revivals' "Born on the Bayou." Club owner Dominic Santana was over the moon with the talent on display. He was also keeping watch over ominous weather reports. "Every time he hits the stage, there's a storm," Santana said of Springsteen. "Basically, he chased the tornado and sent it another way."
