Madonna Launches Tour
A kilted Madonna kicked off her Drowned World Tour in Barcelona, Spain, before 18,000 fans in a filled-to-capacity basketball stadium on Saturday night, reports Reuters. Her get-up -- possibly inspired by her Highland wedding to British film director Guy Ritchie last December -- was one of six outfits that she wore thanks to French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier. The Material Mom, 42, who paired the tartan with a sleeveless black top, was joined on stage by 10 dancers and two backup singers during the two-hour set that contained 20 songs. In one routine, she reportedly pulled a Peter Pan and flew above the stage suspended by trapeze wires. Madonna's tour moves to Italy, Germany and France before reaching London's Earl's Court for six nights starting July 4. The New York Post reported over the weekend that the better seats for her upcoming Madison Square Garden concert were going for up to $3,300 on eBay. On Aug. 26, HBO will broadcast a live version of Madonna's show from Michigan, the pop diva's home state.
