Kerrigan's Sound of Music

Olympic skating medallist Nancy Kerrigan, 31, is currently starring in "Footloose on Ice," which is running in Myrtle Beach, S.C., through Aug. 31, according to the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, which handles the score to the show. (Songs include "Let's Hear It for the Boy" and "Almost Paradise.") The organization quotes the local Sun News as saying "It's perfection on ice!" Scott Davis costars with Kerrigan. The show is based on the 1984 movie with Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer about a city boy who moves to a small town where dancing is prohibited. A recent, non-ice Broadway stage adaptation of the film was a critical and financial bust. (Perhaps worth noting is that in the current Broadway smash, Mel Brooks's "The Producers," there's a joke about "Death of a Salesman on Ice.") Kerrigan was the 1993 U.S. women's champion and Olympic medallist in 1992 (bronze) and '94 (silver). She is also remembered for having been the target of a bizarre 1994 attack that involved her rival, Tonya Harding, who also happens to be in the news this week. The New York Post reports that Harding, 30, and her agent are discussing the possibility of her starring in a topless Ice Capades show.
