Daniel Karven Veres, age four, drowned on Saturday while at a birthday party at the Malibu home of rock musician Tommy Lee, 39, said L.A. Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Brenda Cambra. By Sunday, after an autopsy was performed on the boy, authorities had labeled the tragic incident an accident. Veres, who had apparently been swimming with several other children, was found floating face down in the shallow end of the pool, police said. Two adults in attendance tried to resuscitate him while waiting for an ambulance, but it was too late: He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said. The boy's father, TV producer James Veres, calling his son's death "inexcusable," told a local radio station on Sunday that more people should have been hired to supervise the children. According to Reuters, it is not clear whether or not the party was being held for Lee's elder son, Brandon Thomas, who turned five on June 5. Brandon's brother, Dylan Jagger, will turn four on December 29. Their mother is Lee's ex-wife, Pamela Anderson, 33. She apparently was not present at the time of the tragedy.
