Robert Downey Jr. Goes Back to Work
Robert Downey Jr., 36, was back before the cameras at the historic Greystone Manor in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, reports Variety columnist Army Archerd. The troubled actor filmed a music video for the song "I Want Love," a single from a new Elton John CD called "Songs from the West Coast." Sam Taylor-Wood directed Downey, who reportedly lip-synched to Elton's voice. The album is slated to hit stores in early October, with an airdate of the video apparently to take place around the same time. Downey's agent told Variety that the leading man, who is Emmy-nominated for his supporting role as the love interest on TV's "Ally McBeal," has been receiving several offers for major film and TV roles. He will also attend the Emmy ceremony on Sept. 16, says the agent. Downey was busted in a Palm Springs, Calif., hotel suite last Thanksgiving after an anonymous call tipped off authorities. He pleaded no contest to drug charges in mid-July and was sentenced to three years probation, including one year in a live-in drug rehabilitation program, as part of a deal with prosecutors that spared him a potentially lengthy return to prison.
