ARRESTED: Carlos Leon, 35, father of Madonna's daughter Lourdes, 4, was busted Sunday afternoon for smoking marijuana in New York's Washington Square Park, reports the New York Post. After spending the night behind bars, Leon was arraigned Monday on a misdemeanor charge. "I can't believe in this day and age (police) are still arresting people for pot," said Madonna's spokesperson . . . Prosecutors dropped misdemeanor charges of drunken driving and disturbing the peace . . . PROMOTED: The TV character, Pfc. Gomer Pyle played by Jim Nabors on the mid-'60s TV sitcom "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.," is due to get his stripe and become a lance corporal on Thursday, reports the Associated Press. Gen. James Jones, commandant of the Marine Corps, will honor the character at a private ceremony at Hawaii's Camp H.M. Smith on Oahu.
