Lourdes's Dad Busted, 'N Syncer Sick
ARRESTED: Carlos Leon, 35, father of Madonna's daughter Lourdes, 4, was busted Sunday afternoon for smoking marijuana in New York's Washington Square Park, reports the New York Post. After spending the night behind bars, Leon was arraigned Monday on a misdemeanor charge. "I can't believe in this day and age (police) are still arresting people for pot," said Madonna's spokesperson . . . AILING: 'N Sync singer Joey Fatone, 24, called in sick for the group's Sunday show in San Antonio after he was briefly hospitalized with a minor case of pneumonia, reports USA Today . . . HOSPITALIZED: French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo (1960's "Breathless"), 68, was being taken by helicopter to a Paris hospital on Wednesday for emergency medical treatment after suffering a possible stroke, say reports. The French screen icon reportedly suffered a mild heart attack in 1999. Doctors are closely monitoring him . . . SENTENCED: Roger Clinton, 45, half-brother of former President Bill Clinton, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a reckless driving charge in Southern California. The judge in the case slapped two years of probation and nearly $1,400 in fines on Roger for his Feb. 17 arrest. Prosecutors dropped misdemeanor charges of drunken driving and disturbing the peace . . . PROMOTED: The TV character, Pfc. Gomer Pyle played by Jim Nabors on the mid-'60s TV sitcom "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.," is due to get his stripe and become a lance corporal on Thursday, reports the Associated Press. Gen. James Jones, commandant of the Marine Corps, will honor the character at a private ceremony at Hawaii's Camp H.M. Smith on Oahu. "I told the general I don't know if I should accept this -- it's just too much power," quipped Nabors, 71. "At this stage of my life, it's almost too much to think about what it could lead to."
