Two divas, two upcoming movies. First, Jennifer Lopez is prepping to step into Cinderella's shoes in "The Chambermaid," a modern retelling of the rags-to-riches story, reports Variety. Writer-director John Hughes ("The Breakfast Club," "Home Alone") will write and produce the romantic comedy, which, so far, is scheduled to start shooting in winter 2002, says the trade paper. Lopez will play a young idealist who takes a job as a chambermaid in a luxury hotel in an effort to better her life. There she meets a princely British guest . . . you can figure out the rest. The other diva set to make another movie is one with a checkered past at the box office: Madonna. Variety also reports that she and her husband, British director Guy Ritchie, will collaborate in a remake of Italian director Lina Wertmuller's 1975 Italian-language morality tale, "Swept Away," about a spoiled woman who is shipwrecked on a tiny island with a communist sailor. No details about the production have been provided, such as a start date or studio. Madonna, 42, who is currently in the midst of a sold-out concert tour, was last seen on screen in last year's flop, "The Next Best Thing," costarring Rupert Everett. Ritchie, 32, directed her contoversial recent video, "What It Feels Like for a Girl."
