There's no new news regarding the condition of Mariah Carey, who was admitted to an undisclosed New York-area hospital last week amid reports that she was suffering from exhaustion. The pop singer, 31, has canceled her headline role in MTV's 20th anniversary show on Wednesday while she is still recuperating, her spokeswoman, Cindi Berger, told Reuters on Tuesday. Carey "is still in the hospital, and she is getting her much needed rest," said Berger. Carey, the biggest-selling female recording star of the past decade, was admitted to the hospital on July 25 after having completed, in recent months, two movies, "Glitter" and "Wise Girls." She also wrote, recorded and produced her newest album, the soundtrack to "Glitter," and the promotion of all three efforts would have benefited by her appearance on the MTV show. "Glitter," set to open Aug. 31, was originally called "All That Glitters," and its plot sounds remarkably similar to those of "A Star Is Born" and "Funny Girl." Set against the New York club scene, the movie traces the rags-to-riches story of Billie Frank (Carey), the survivor of a turbulent childhood who is discovered by a bad-boy deejay (Max Beesley). They become partners and lovers, and he sets her on the road to stardom. But there are bumps in that road.
