FILED: Celine Dion, 34, and husband Rene Angelil, 59, launched a lawsuit Monday against Quebec magazine Allo-Vedette for alleging that the couple rented a Las Vegas hotel swimming pool so she could sunbathe topless and he could skinny-dip, reports USA Today . . . CONTRACTED: Artemis Records has signed Russell Crowe's band, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, to its label, reports Billboard.com. Their album, "Bastard Life of Clarity," will be released Sept. 11 in the U.S. The group, whose North American tour kicked off Aug. 11 in Austin, will be on the road through Aug. 30 . . . ILL: Severe bronchitis has forced rock singer Stevie Nicks, 53, to postpone concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday at L.A.'s Universal Amphitheatre, reports Billboard.com. The former Fleetwood Mac singer experienced some respiratory problems last month as she embarked on the tour in conjunction with her latest album "Trouble in Shangri-La," said her spokesperson . . . RELEASED: French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo, 68, was discharged from a Paris hospital Wednesday after making a "remarkable" recovery from a stroke he suffered two weeks ago, the hospital said in a brief statement. No word on his condition or of any possible effects of the stroke . . . CHARGED: Michael Willis, 36, a Canadian man claiming to be engaged to actress Katie Holmes ("The Ice Storm," "Wonder Boys") is in legal trouble for allegedly hounding her father, Martin Holmes, reports New York's Daily News. Willis, a one-time Rhodes scholar, has been charged with criminal harassment, mischief and making harassing phone calls about his supposed "engagement" to Katie. He pleaded not guilty last week . . . BORN: Canadian-born country singer Shania Twain, 35, gave birth to a son, Eja (pronounced Asia), on Aug. 12, said her publicist. Dad is producer and songwriter John (Mutt) Lange. This is the first child for the couple, who live in Switzerland and have been married since 1993 . . . ANTICIPATED: Archconservative North Carolina Republican Sen. DIVORCED: After a bitter, four-year battle in which his wife accused him of years of cheating on her, "Early Show" host Bryant Gumbel and his wife of 27 years, June Gumbel, have finalized their divorce. Details of the agreement that was hammered out in a Westchester County, N.Y., courtroom on Tuesday were sealed, but her attorney, Barry Slotnick, told reporters afterward: "Mrs. Gumbel was satisfied that this part of her life is over" . . . NAMED: Former "Who's the Boss star Tony Danza, 50, will serve as host of Sept. 22's 81st annual Miss America Pageant, say organizers. He replaces the 1999-2000 hosts, Donny and Marie Osmond . . . DIED: "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)" singer Betty Everett, 61, died in Wisconsin Sunday. "Shoop" made Billboard's Top 10 list in 1964, and Cher's cover version went Top 40 in 1991.
