Happy Birthday, Michael Jackson

Wednesday August 29, 2001 01:00 AM EDT

Michael Jackson is just everywhere this week. First off, his single, "You Rock My World," from his long-awaited new album, "Invincible" (due in late October), has been receiving heavy radio station airplay. The tune features a spoken introduction from comedian Chris Tucker and is the first new material Jackson, who celebrates his 43rd birthday on Wednesday, has released since his disappointing selling 1997 remix album, "Blood on the Dance Floor." The artwork for the album will reportedly feature a black-and-white close-up photo of Jackson's left eye and raised eyebrow. Meanwhile, reports the Associated Press, Jackson has been shooting a video in L.A. and has also been in rehearsals for his Sept. 7 and 10 all-star concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden celebrating the 30th anniversary of his solo career. In Manhattan on Thursday morning, 9:30 ET, the Gloved One is to preside over the opening of the Nasdaq trading floor, the electronic stock market announced on Tuesday. The ceremony, which will be closed to the public (and even to much of the media) will be displayed on giant video screens outside Nasdaq headquarters in Times Square. Sure hope he can help that sluggish market.
