Sara Evans, 30, topped the list of Country Music Assn. Awards nominees, announced in Nashville Tuesday. The "Born to Fly" star received five nods, including those for album, song, single, music video and female vocalist of the year. Conceivably, however, she could pick up as many as seven awards, because she co-produced the album and title single with Paul Worley. Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson and the soundtrack to "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" followed with four nominations each. (To be hosted by Vince Gill, the 35th annual CMA Awards ceremony will be held Nov. 7 at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House and broadcast live on CBS from 8-11 p.m. ET.) "If I had to pick the category that means the most to me out of the five," Evans was quoted as saying by the Hollywood Reporter, "I guess I'd have to say 'Born to Fly' being up for album of the year. I've always dreamed about having an album nomination." She will compete with Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack and Trisha Yearwood for female vocalist of the year. Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Brad Paisley and Toby Keith are in the running for male vocalist of the year. (McGraw and Paisley each scored three nominations.) Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn were nominated for entertainer, vocal duo, single and album of the year for "Steers & Stripes." Also competing for the coveted entertainer of the year honor are Dixie Chicks, George Strait, Jackson and McGraw.
