FINED: Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was ordered to pay $350 by an East Hampton, N.Y., court on Tuesday after being charged with clear-cutting the plants around his estate, effecting environmentally protected land overlooking, reports New York's Daily News . . . FILED: MTV personality Carson Daly, 28, has launched a $1 million breach-of-contract lawsuit against Motorola, claiming that the company backed out of a deal for him to promote cellular phones, pagers and other electronic gadgets. A Motorola spokeswoman says there was never an official contract between the parties . . . ANNOUNCED: Controversial rapper Eminem, 28, and his mentor, Dr. Dre, 25, are joining the roster of stars who will pay tribute to Michael Jackson, 43, on stage at New York's Madison Square Garden next Friday and Monday, saluting Jackson's 30 years as a solo performer . . . RETURNED: Starting next February, some 14 gowns that Princess Diana put up for charity auction in 1997 (two months before her death) will be permanently displayed in a new exhibition at London's Kensington Palace, where Diana once lived. The dresses have been shown around the world since their sale but are now coming home to roost . . . DIED: The father of hip-hop star Wyclef Jean (of the Fugees) was killed after becoming pinned between his garage door and one of his son's cars in what investigators believe was a bizarre accident, police said. The Rev. Gesner Jean, 60, a Newark, N.J., minister, suffered severe chest injuries and died at the hospital Monday night . . . TRANSFORMED: Dennis Greene, former singer with the '50s revival group Sha Na Na, has a new gig, teaching entertainment law at Ohio's University of Dayton, reports the Associated Press.
