After singing a critically-acclaimed rendition of "God Bless America" on last Friday's celebrity-studded telethon, Celine Dion has announced that she plans to perform at a Montreal concert on Friday to benefit the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, reports the Associated Press. The 33-year-old pop diva stopped performing live on Jan. 1, 2000 until her appearance on the wildly successful telethon, which generated more than $150 million in pledges to benefit families of the World Trade Center and Pentagon attack victims. The Montreal concert will also feature singer Peter Gabriel, as well as Quebec artists Bruno Pelletier and Les Respectables. The proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. Dion, who has taken time off to be with her family, husband Rene Angelil, and son Rene-Charles, born in February, announced earlier this year that she will headline a show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas beginning in March 2003.
