Sharon Stone Home from the Hospital

Sharon Stone was released from the hospital on Sunday, and "is completely intact neurologically, and she will have no medical restrictions on her personal or professional activities," said Dr. Michael Lawton, chief of cerebrolvascular surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, in a statement. The "Basic Instinct" star, 43, suffering from severe head pain, was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 29. She was treated for a "subarachnoid hemorrhage" (bleeding into the space between the brain and the middle membrane covering the brain) after initial tests showed minor bleeding on the brain. Doctors had first feared a blood vessel may have burst but two separate angiograms found no such aneurysms. (In some patients such a condition can cause a stroke.) Surgeons also performed a procedure called coil embolization to block the flow of blood through the artery to eliminate any further risk of complications, Lawton said. The coil embolization was prescribed "to eliminate blood flow through the dissected artery and thereby eliminate any further risk of complications," said Stone's publicist, Cindi Berger. Berger says that Stone has returned to the San Francisco home she shares with her husband, San Francisco Chronicle executive editor Phil Bronstein. As the star herself said in a statement: "I would like to thank my fans for their love and support and the miraculous power of prayer. I am forever grateful."
