Here, There, Everywhere a Stiller
Dad (Jerry), mom (Anne Meara), son (Ben), daughter (Amy), and son's former girlfriend (Janeane Garofalo) turn the new mockumentary into a dysfunctional family affair.

Call it a dysfunctional family affair: Jerry Stiller, who costars with Janeane Garofalo in the mockumentary "The Independent," didn't know his son Ben was in the movie until he saw a print after it was finished. "It was a big shock to see Ben in the movie," said Stiller (the elder) at the New York premiere. "I never saw him on the set. He came in and did a very nice thing for the movie. You know, he's a big movie star now. The tables are turned because I used to get him his roles. It's funny . . . It's a shock when you look up at the big screen and see your family. You feel maybe they did something with their lives. I think we'll celebrate it when it's nominated for an Academy Award." His wife Anne Meara also appeared in the movie, and Garofalo once dated Ben. "Jerry, by nature of his personality, is very paternal," said Garofalo. "When you have a father figure like that on the set, you tend to be on your best behavior. Most people tend to act very petulantly on the set."
