Tom Green Files for a Divorce from Drew

Funnyman Tom Green, 30, isn't laughing much these days. The comedian filed for divorce from wife Drew Barrymore, 26, in Los Angeles Monday after less than a year of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. In a statement about the fizzled marriage, Green said, "Drew is a wonderful woman. I love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out. I wish her much happiness." No comment yet from the child star of Steven Spielberg's "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial," who overcame drug and alcohol addiction as a youngster and made a comeback in the early 1990s, and has since starred in films such as "Charlie's Angels," which she also produced, "Never Been Kissed," "The Wedding Singer" and, most recently, Penny Marshall's "Riding in Cars with Boys." She is slated to star opposite George Clooney in the upcoming film "A Dangerous Mind." Green and Barrymore reportedly began dating in March 2000 and then, after a stalled stunt to wed on "Saturday Night Live," reportedly eloped to the South Pacific in March 2001. It was Canadian-born Green's first marriage and Barrymore's second. Her first, to bar owner Jeremy Thomas in 1994, ended after just 19 days. Green rose to fame with his outrageous "The Tom Green Show" on MTV. Barrymore stood by Green during his fight with testicular cancer last year, and the couple escaped without injury when a fire badly damaged her Hollywood Hills home earlier this year.
