Eminem Reaches the Big Screen
Movie audiences will get a taste of Eminem when the trailer for his upcoming film 8 Mile High hits theaters on Friday.

Now audiences can judge for themselves whether controversial rapper Eminem, 29, has acting skills on par with his rhyming abilities when, on Friday, a trailer from his upcoming movie "8 Mile High" reaches moviehouses, reports Launch.com. The movie tells the tale of a young white man seeking his own identity in the largely black culture of Detroit. Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers III) co-stars in the movie with Brittany Murphy ("Riding in Cars with Boys") and Kim Basinger, who plays his mother. According to the movie's producer, Brian Grazer, the film's story -- though incredibly similar to Eminem's own life -- is not completely autobiographical. "I thought he was charismatic and could act, so I built a story that is, you know, in the world in which he came from--it's not his story," Grazer told Launch.com. For those ready to scoff at the thought of Eminem as a marquee star, Grazer assures, Eminem is no slouch in the acting department. "I think you'll be very surprised because the quality that's the most pronounced is innocence." The movie is scheduled for a May 2002 release date.
