Seinfeld Gives a Benefit Show for Neighbors

Jerry Seinfeld doesn't need to play to small rooms anymore. But last week the 47-year-old comedian found himself performing at a holiday party in the lobby of a Manhattan apartment building, reports "The New Yorker" magazine. The former sitcom star agreed to be the master of ceremonies of a private auction at the Beresford, the fancy Upper West Side building where he, his wife Jessica Sklar, 30, and baby daughter Sascha live. The holiday gathering was a fundraiser for the families of firefighters killed on September 11, and several firemen from nearby ladder companies were in attendance. The building is the home to several celebrities, among them tennis star John McEnroe and "Odd Couple" actor Tony Randall. The event was the brainchild of Randall¹s wife, Heather, who realized that the talents of her neighbors could bring in quite a bit of money at the auction. In fact, McEnroe paid $3,000 to have TV's Felix Unger (Randall, of course) for his services as a butler for a day.
