Zorro, meet Zorba. Antonio Banderas, 40, will be the first recipient of the Anthony Quinn Achievement Award, to be presented in late April at the 10th Annual Latin American Film Festival in downtown Providence, R.I., the city's mayor announced this week. The late Quinn, best known for playing the zestful "Zorba the Greek" in the 1964 film (and subsequent stage musical versions), was born in Mexico, grew up in East Los Angeles and made movies in Hollywood and internationally, but ended up settling in Rhode Island in his final years. He died last June at the age of 86. Banderas, one of PEOPLE's 50 Most Beautiful People of 1996, whose films include 1998's "The Mask of Zorro," was born in Malaga, Spain, and he and his wife, Melanie Griffith, have accepted an invitation to attend the festival. Quinn was not only a double Oscar-winning actor (with the distinction of having appeared in more movies with other Oscar-winning actors than any other Oscar-winning actor: 46; 28 male actors, 18 female), but also an accomplished artist, who in his lifetime had retrospectives in New York, Los Angeles and major cities in Europe. He also was father to 13 children.
