Mariah Boosts Military Morale
As Jennifer Lopez gets ready for her military tour on behalf of the USO, pop diva Mariah Carey has already been there, done that. She completed her mission -- to bring some early holiday cheer to U.S. peacekeeping forces in and around the Balkans -- on Tuesday, dressed in fatigues more revealing than military issue. "Boy, what a crowd,'' Carey, 31, said as she was hoisted onto the shoulders of some of the soldiers. "This sure is Mariah-mania," a serviceman told Reuters. Though some American entertainers have avoided foreign travel since Sept. 11, Carey (who suffered an emotional and physical breakdown last summer) has exhibited no such qualms. "They gave me a very nice welcome, and I feel very safe and protected," she said. "It was little bit unnerving at the beginning. The helicopter ride flipped me out a little bit -- I ain't going to lie . . . I could hear everything they were saying in the headphones in different languages."
