Elton, Eagles Sing for a Better Supper

12/20/2001 at 02:47 PM EST

Rock superstars Elton John, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, the Eagles, Stevie Nicks, the Dixie Chicks and Ozzy Osbourne are banding together beginning Feb. 26, the eve of the Grammy Awards, to perform a series of concerts aimed at raising money for the Recording Artists Coalition. The coalition is a lobbying group that is trying to garner legislative support for changes to what it deems unfair business practices of the major record companies. One of the coalition's main goals is to have the California legislature repeal a state Labor Code amendment won by the music industry in 1987, which ties recording artists to contracts for longer periods than those of talent in other entertainment industries, such as film and television. The artists are scheduled to perform five shows at various Los Angeles venues.
