"Hotshot," the fourth album by reggae singer Shaggy, was the top seller of last year, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, reports Reuters. The album sold 5.5 million copies, just ahead of New Ager Enya's "A Day Without Rain" and boy band 'N Sync's "Celebrity," which sold 5 million each. Jamaican-born and Brooklyn-bred Shaggy -- known for his upbeat, dance hall-style music that he calls "dog-a-muffin" -- is a veteran of the Gulf War who had his first hit while still in uniform. Other big sellers of the year were "Songs in A Minor," the debut album by R&B songstress Alicia Keys, and the bluegrass-filled soundtrack to the Coen Brothers film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?." "Hybrid Theory," the debut from alternative-metal band Linkin Park, went platinum this year, too. Overall, the range of musical acts at the top is an impressive mix of styles. "When the industry has a year when you can mention Shaggy, Enya and 'N Sync in the same breath, there is a clear indication that Americans are not turning to any one genre of music," RIAA president and CEO Hilary Rosen said in a statement on the organization's website.
