Janet Jackson to Retire from the Road
She's tired, the pop star says, so when her "All For You" tour wraps up next month, after a six-month run, so will she. Next: Maybe acting.

The pop star is pooped. Janet Jackson, 35, told the syndicated TV show "Extra" that she may put her road tours to rest after next month, when her "All For You" tour wraps up its six-month schedule in February. "Touring is very grueling. It's very taxing on the body and living out of your suitcase, going from city to city, night after night. It's a tough job," Jackson told the show, which provided some of the entertainer's quotes to Reuters. The TV show's full interview is due to air on Wednesday night. "If I could find a way to do this within a month, two months, and hit every place that I need to go, I would definitely do it again. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work for everyone in that way, but, if not, it may just be my last one," she said, adding that she would like to return to acting and has "read a couple of scripts." (Her last screen appearance was opposite Eddie Murphy in 2000's "The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.") When she launched her tour last July, Jackson canceled or postponed several dates because of production or health problems. In the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks on America, she dropped a European leg that had been set to last from Oct. 31 to Dec. 17. Earlier this month she did four shows in Japan -- where she told reporters that she's all for love, but not necessarily for marriage (her 1991-2000 marriage to Rene Elizondo is currently being acrimoniously dissolved) -- and will resume her North American tour this Friday, when she plays Louisville, Ky. The tour wraps up on Feb. 16 in Honolulu.
