FACED: Las Vegas police on Wednesday said that they have enough evidence to put ex-champ Mike Tyson on trial for allegedly raping a woman in his 12,000 sq.-ft. million-dollar mansion in September. "We feel there is probable cause," Las Vegas police Lt. Jeff Carlson told New York's Daily News. Tyson, 35, is already accused of biting rival Lennox Lewis, 36, at a New York press conference which turned into a melee on Tuesday, and will learn in the next two weeks whether or not Nevada prosecutors will indict him on the rape charge. On Tuesday Tyson also faces a Nevada Athletic Commission hearing that will decide if his boxing license will be reinstated . . . SETTLED: Former "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress Rebecca Gayheart, 29, whose car struck and killed a 9-year-old boy last year, has settled a wrongful death lawsuit for an undisclosed sum, attorneys for both parties told the Associated Press on Wednesday. Jorge Cruz and Silvia Martinez had filed suit against Gayheart in August, two months after she hit and killed their son, Jorge Cruz Jr., with her Jeep. In November, Gayheart, who pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, was ordered to serve three years probation and to produce a car safety video . . . NAMED: Hollywood veteran Sidney Poitier -- the only black performer to win an Oscar for best actor, for 1963's "Lilies of the Field" -- will receive an honorary statuette during the March 24 Oscar ceremony, organizers announced Wednesday. Poitier, 74, the star of "To Sir, With Love," "In the Heat of the Night" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," among so many other high-profile films of the '50s and '60s, is being paid tribute "for his extraordinary performances and unique presence on the screen, and for representing the motion picture industry with dignity, style and intelligence throughout the world," said Frank Pierson, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in a statement . . . DIED: Stanley Marcus, 96, whose father, aunt and uncle founded the exclusive Neiman Marcus luxury goods department store in downtown Dallas in 1907, passed away on Tuesday. Marcus, who joined the family business after graduating from Harvard, had a lifelong motto: "I have the simplest taste. I am always satisfied with the best" . . . ANOINTED: Hometown kids Donny and Marie Osmond, 44 and 42, respectively, will be among those carrying the Olympic torch on the last stage of its relay to Salt Lake City in Utah for the Feb. 8 opening ceremony of the 2002 Winter Games, officials announced on Wednesday.
