It was a weekend to fight, race and cry at the movies. The war drama "Black Hawk Down" retaining the top spot on the weekend box-office list for the second straight week as the canine comedy "Snow Dogs" and the teen weepie "A Walk to Remember" jockeyed for the No. 2 position, according to studio estimates. "Gladiator" director Ridley Scott's "Black Hawk," which could emerge as an Oscar favorite, stars Josh Hartnett and is set in 1993 Somalia. "Dogs" features Cuba Gooding Jr., though the real stars are the four-legged members of the sled team. Pop singer Mandy Moore headlines "Walk," which is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. The new supernatural thriller "The Mothman Prophecies," starring Richard Gere, did okay, as did "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "A Beautiful Mind," the last of which is holding its own very nicely as it awaits word on the Oscar nominations.
