Hunky Jim Caviezel: Keep Your Shirt On
Jim Caviezel may be one of the sexiest screen actors around at the moment, but just don't expect him to get sexy on screen, the New York Post reports. Caviezel, 33, came to public attention in Terrence Malick's 1998 "The Thin Red Line" and is now on the promotional trail for his latest, reputedly the 12th remake of "The Count of Monte Cristo," based on the 1844 adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas. "I have a hard time getting naked on film," said Caviezel, a devout Roman Catholic who has been married to schoolteacher Kerri Caviezel for four years. "I don't believe in it. I don't think it's right. In my faith, I'm taught that abstinence is important." Caviezel is a product of 10 years in parochial school, says the Post. As a result, explains the Washington State native who was set to become a basketball player until an injury turned his attention to acting, "You're never gonna see my butt on film unless I'm in the Holocaust, walking around." His faith is put to practice behind the cameras, too. While shooting a love scene with Jennifer Lopez for last year's "Angel Eyes," Caviezel recalled, "I just said, 'Look, put a top on her. I'm gonna keep my shorts on, she's gonna keep hers on. Get the camera and shoot around it.' And that's out of devotion, love and respect to my wife." Meanwhile, Caviezel's "Cristo" costar, the Polish-born Dagmara Dominczyk, recalled how nervous the leading man was before shooting their PG-13 sex scene. "Jim took me aside and said, 'You know, I'm married and very faithful,'" she told the Post. "And I said, 'Jim, it's a Disney movie. I'm not gonna grab your crotch!'" As for the violence in the movie, Caviezel said that he does not consider it gratuitous.
